Tucked away in the high hills of Kiambu County, the Gitare washing station has been producing exceptional coffee since 1954. Part of the Kimaratia Farmers' Cooperative Society.
Gitare stands apart from most Kenyan washing stations in one striking way: it sits in the heart of a tea-growing zone, where cool temperatures and rich volcanic soils create a slow-ripening environment that concentrates flavor in every cherry. The station draws its water from the nearby River Theta, washing each lot in clean, fresh channels before drying it slowly on raised beds.
In the cup, we taste sweet peach, pomegranate, and orange zest, all carried by a fantastic body that leaves you wanting more.
