Ethiopian Banko Gotiti has earned a strong reputation for its consistent excellence, season after season, delivering some of the highest scoring Ethiopian coffees. This Grade 1 micro lot means they put extra effort and care to achieve a higher quality of coffee and they have completed additional rounds of hand-sorting and dried this coffee with meticulous care.

Banko Gotiti is a small town in the south of Gedeo County, in Kochere, Yirgacheffe. The washing station there processes cherry from around 2,000 smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on very small single-hectare (~2.5-acre) garden plots. This traditional model of coffee cultivation and processing remains deeply rooted in the region—and continues to produce some of the best coffees in the world.

The high elevation of these farms combined with the region’s cool temperatures, allows for the slow ripening of cherries. This results in denser beans and a sweeter, more complex flavor profile. You will also notice these beans are smaller in size than your traditional coffee bean.

Throughout fermentation, there is strict monitoring and control to ensure the necessary sugar content, temperature, and pressure levels are met and maintained, and oxygen is consistently absent, to achieve the desired cup profile.
